Kareena getting friendly!

Looks like Kareena Kapoor is truly making efforts to put behind professional rivalry and personal differences with other leading ladies. Apparently, the fact that she invited Preity Zinta and Bipasha Basu, among others, to Saif's birthday party is indication that the actress on a bridge-building spree. Our source close to the actress revealed, "Kareena broke the ice with Preity when she invited her for Saif's birthday. In fact, Preity jokingly told Kareena, 'Saif is my best friend and I have to be nice to you'. That made Kareena break into laughter and the two have been good friends ever since."Preity, in turn, invited Kareena to her birthday bash at her home recently. “But Kareena could not attend because of a prior commitment in Delhi,” the source said. Recently,Kareena was seen bonding big time with Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra at the FICCI event.Kareena even made the first friendly move towards Bipasha Basu. “Bipasha was surprised to receive an invitation to Saif's birthday sent by Kareena,” said our source. Bipasha and Kareena had a major fight with each other during the making of Ajnabee. We tried to contact Kareena, but the actress remained unavailable for comment.

Happy Birthday Rekha!

Rekha has done movies with great story lines and she has portrayed her characters beautifully. Some of my favorite Rekha films are :

Ijaazat - plays a patient wife to naseerudin shah; beautful songs like 'katra katra', mera kuch samaan' and 'kali haath shaam ayi hai'

Umrao jaan - one of her most famous films

Silsila - Set a style statement which her look. this film that also was said to portray her affair with Amitabh B. be from real life to reel life.

Khubsoorat - A fun film where she played Manju and goes to visit her sister's 'sasural' and how she changed a stricly disciplined home to a fun-loving environment; my favorite film

Agar tum na hote costarring Rajesh Khanna and Raj Babbar who plays her husband and a photographer who becomes disabled.

Muqaddar ka sikandar -Zohrabai; she enacted the role of a courtesan many times and was convincing everytime.

Baseraa - a story about two sisters (Rekha and Rakhee) who love each other immensely and how circumstances lead them both to be married to the same man (shashi kapoor). this one makes me cry everytime.

Ghar Vinod Mehra playes her husband (who she might havealso been married to secretly for a short while).

Taare Zameen Par goes to the Oscars..

Aamir Khan is ready for his third outing at the Oscars. We all cried buckets while watching it. Now, joy, Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par is set to go to the Oscars as India’s official entry this year. The Film & Television Producers’ Guild of India, headed by Sunil Darshan voted for TZP from among the four contenders - Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday, Jodhaa Akbar and Taare Zameen Par. The decision was announced on Saturday evening.Taare Zameen Par tells the story of a dyslexic child (played by Darsheel Safary), who spurns the world defiantly, yet cannot but respond to the endearing teaching methods of his art teacher (Aamir Khan). The film is as high on story telling as on passing on a social message to rigid straight-backed teachers and parents about children with special learning needs. When contacted, Aamir Khan said, “I am really happy that TZP been selected to represent India at an international forum like the Oscars. It is a film that is extremely close to my heart. It’s a film that first sensitised me as a parent and as a person, and then went on to have same effect on all the audience in India and across the globe. I hope that it has an equally strong impact on the members of the Academy as well.” Taare Zameen Par has already won several awards and appreciation at the box-office. Aamir Khan’s first home production Lagaan (2001) was also the official entry to the Oscars for that year and Rang De Basanti in 2006.

Karisma walks the ramp ..

Karisma Kapoor walked the ramp for a designer named Manish Ganwani. It was nice to see her in something other than her everyday black and white. I think she looked absolutely fabulous in that outfit. In her own words, "it fit [her] personality." I'm not into the long velvet kameez look but she made it work in the 90's and she makes it work in 2008! (do I see it making a comeback?)
