Taare Zameen Par goes to the Oscars..

Aamir Khan is ready for his third outing at the Oscars. We all cried buckets while watching it. Now, joy, Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par is set to go to the Oscars as India’s official entry this year. The Film & Television Producers’ Guild of India, headed by Sunil Darshan voted for TZP from among the four contenders - Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday, Jodhaa Akbar and Taare Zameen Par. The decision was announced on Saturday evening.Taare Zameen Par tells the story of a dyslexic child (played by Darsheel Safary), who spurns the world defiantly, yet cannot but respond to the endearing teaching methods of his art teacher (Aamir Khan). The film is as high on story telling as on passing on a social message to rigid straight-backed teachers and parents about children with special learning needs. When contacted, Aamir Khan said, “I am really happy that TZP been selected to represent India at an international forum like the Oscars. It is a film that is extremely close to my heart. It’s a film that first sensitised me as a parent and as a person, and then went on to have same effect on all the audience in India and across the globe. I hope that it has an equally strong impact on the members of the Academy as well.” Taare Zameen Par has already won several awards and appreciation at the box-office. Aamir Khan’s first home production Lagaan (2001) was also the official entry to the Oscars for that year and Rang De Basanti in 2006.

Karisma walks the ramp ..

Karisma Kapoor walked the ramp for a designer named Manish Ganwani. It was nice to see her in something other than her everyday black and white. I think she looked absolutely fabulous in that outfit. In her own words, "it fit [her] personality." I'm not into the long velvet kameez look but she made it work in the 90's and she makes it work in 2008! (do I see it making a comeback?)
